Paris, France, June 13, 2018.
It is ‘only’ six years until Paris host the 2024 Olympics and the French Volleyball Federation are setting the bar high when it comes to their perspectives in Beach Volleyball.
The sport will profit from some unique settings in the ‘Ville Lumière’ and Team France will definitely be willing to shine on home sand.
As a result, the French Volleyball Federation (FFVB) have started an ambitious Olympic programme, leading to Paris 2024 through Tokyo 2020. They are currently looking for young players aged from 17 to 25 willing to pursue the Olympic dream together with an experienced and renowned coaching staff.
Brazilian-born Lissandro Carvalho (pictured) is at the helm of the project, after achieving international success with teams from his native Brazil, Italy and Kazakhstan.
France have never won an Olympic medal in Beach Volleyball but it is six years until Paris host the Olympics – and young players, full of energy and motivation are the right asset to start with in order to pursue the ultimate dream of any athlete!

In 2018 the FFVB launches an athletes recruitment campaign proposed in the "Paris 2024" project creating a video clip.
More than 150 athletes answer the call and during the World Tour in Montpellier the first big selection of the project is organized, involving more than 30 athletes.

CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup Finals – men
France’s national beach volleyball pairs have been coached by a fully staffed coaching team, headed by Brazilian specialist Lissandro Carvalho. Their FIVB Volleyball Empowerment coach support funding totals CHF 795,000 so far.
In addition to automatically qualifying one team per gender as Olympic Games hosts, France managed to secure a second women’s spot through the Olympic Ranking, earned by Lezana Placette & Alexia Richard.
To host the tournament under the Eiffel Tower with a full set of two women’s and two men’s duos, France also needed to win the men’s CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup Finals in Jurmala, and they did. Represented by Teo Rotar, Arnaud Gauthier-Rat, Remi Bassereau and Julien Lyneel at the event in Latvia, France cruised through the country-vs-country tournament winning all five of their ties.

The Olympic Games are over, and with them my journey with French beach volleyball has also ended.
This project, in which I had the privilege and honor of participating and accompanying, has been an intense and transversal process.
During these seven years spent together, we have faced many challenges in the sporting and human dimension, fully experienced the mental and emotional roller coasters, which are a constant in the life of every athlete in the search for continuous improvement, for the best version of themselves, for the best performance. A deep work, often invisible to the eyes of others, which not everyone has the sensitivity to perceive.
Thanks to everyone's commitment and efforts, we have written important pages of this sport in France. Medals have been obtained, historic results have been achieved, and finally the return of France to the Olympic Games through sport performance. In the men's side after 20 years with the victory of the European Nation Cup and in the women's side after 24 years through the Olympic ranking.
The outcome of the Olympic Games was not what we were looking for, we wanted and could have done more, in light of the sporting results achieved during the Olympic qualification period, that gave us good indicators. We wanted to give the French public, our parents and friends and ourselves, further satisfaction and emotions.
In conclusion, I’m proud of the work we have done together, of the evolution of French beach volleyball during these years, of the identity we have built that is recognized by the international scene. Aware of where we started and where we have managed to arrive.
Thanks to the French Federation for their trust.
Thanks to all the staff, to all the players, to all the people who have contributed to the development of French beach volleyball over these years.
Thanks for all the emotions experienced and shared, the memories, the moments, this experience will remain indelible.
I greet you with the wish of further growth and success for French beach volleyball.
Au revoir
